An Experience That Never Helps ~

Anamika had a life-long desire to reach the highest altitude of Anaimudi Hills. After all, she was living right down the hills. But there were lots of barriers. Lots of barriers not on the way to the hill, but were well settled in and around her house. Yes, they were her parents and relatives. Finally, one fine Sunday morning, Anamika decided to go, visit and admire the place, of course, without anybody knowing.

It was Sunday. She got up too early as unusual. She got ready with the same speed. It was time to tell the fake reason, she had prepared to go out.

Anamika called her mother, "Amma, I am going to my friend's house to prepare for exams! I will be little late!!", and she ran picking up her cycle.

Her amma screamed, "Try to finish it soon and come back early.I will make you favorite chicken briyani!", with a mother's usual fear and care.

Anamika was on her way to the hill top. She was exploring the beauty of the forest. There were elephant mothers caring their elephant kids. Birds chirping all the way with their better-halves. The scenery and the environment was so serene that she forgot herself and settled down on a rock, from where she was clearly enjoying the serene beauty of the places around.

                                                          ----------------------------

"Where do you guys think you will exist after dying???", Anamika asked the boy and the girl, who were standing before her, in the hill top.

The couple, probably eloped from their home, because of the opposition they faced for their love, looked at her, with their eyes acting like butterflies caught in the hands of a kid and their hearts pumping like boiling water, not knowing what to answer.

Anamika raised her eyebrows and looked at them, as if she needs an answer. The boy opened his mouth, "Prob..abl..ly, our souls , mhkkhmmm.. , will be together!! ", filling the air with his words, that came out after a big struggle.

"Have you met any such souls living and flying together??!!", the question fell out sarcastically from her mouth.

That should have raised the temper of the girl a little. She, who was keeping mum for the whole period of time, started to talk.

"There are lot of evidence about the existence of souls!", looking at Anamika for her response, the girl stopped.

Anamika was not responding, but was staring at the girl as if she wanted more. The silence existed for minutes and minutes, as Anamika was staring at them both.

"Well, it does not matter, we existed after death, but its enough of living here in this rude world, who never care about love, care or the people. We love each other and our parents are not ready to accept us getting married, for a single reason which is 'we love each other'. After all, we belong to the same caste. Our families are of equal status. But, all they care is, we loved each other and we should not live together.", his voice was quite high when he expressed this and his girl was about to drop tears on her cheeks.

"Why can't you let them understand, by talking to them?? You want to give them pain by just disappearing like this??", with her expression, it felt not like a mere question to them.

"We tried.. But.. ", words were struggling from both of them.

"I see. Whom do you think you are talking to?? A girl, who is happily living with her parents, convincing you guys, not to go for this?? Life after death is not so easy as you imagine! ", she disappeared with this dialogue coming out of her mouth. The boy and the girl found her nowhere around. It was like she just mixed herself into the breeze that was blowing carelessly.

                                                                 ---------------------------

As Anamika was enjoying the serene beauty of the hill, Sreejith arrived with a smile and a childish expression begging her to forgive him. Yes,he was late, making her watch the beauty of the place alone and what else he could do other than pleasing her with his favorite tricks??!! She punched him on his cheeks with a fake expression of anger. He caught her hands,as they came to punch him and they sat on the rock together, watching the flock of birds flying and  clouds passing so close to them. There was an unfading smile on both their faces. They never thought they would have to come to the same place, to fall to death, holding their hands together, shedding tears roll over their cheeks.
